Melissa has always enjoyed working directly with children, helping them to absorb teachable moments shared together. She loves facilitating problem solving skills and celebrating accomplishments, both big and small. Most of all, she loves that children bring out her creativity and imagination, reminding her daily of all that can be learned through play! 

 

Melissa graduated from Boston College with a double major in elementary education and math/computer science. She earned her Masters of Education degree from Lesley University in Cambridge. Melissa taught elementary school for twelve years in Wilton, Connecticut, Belmont, Massachusetts and Chicago, Illinois. She has run her own local private tutoring business for over ten years, focusing on academics and executive functioning skills for elementary and middle school students. Melissa is thrilled to expand her focus as an educator to include preschoolers, who she believes are the most playful and inquisitive students of all!

 

Melissa and her husband moved to the Norwalk area in 2012. She has two children, both FMRNS graduates, and she previously served as the chairperson of the FMRNS Board. 

 

Fresh air and exploration are two of Melissa’s favorite things. She also enjoys reading, organizing and spending time with her family and friends.
